Not your typical review, Wood.Work.LIFE. goes over the restoration, results, and value of three different #4 smoothing planes. A classic Stanley Bailey USA made corrugated #4, a Veritas #4 smoothing plane, and Harbor Freight's #4 smoothing plane kit. I really enjoy using handtools, but with two little girls and a wife I don't have a whole lot of time to mess with tools that don't work. These are integral woodworking tools for any shop. Veritas no. 4 can be bought at www.LeeValleytools.com In the comments, let me know what you think the next shootout should be? I like fishing, Guns and ammo, cooking, motorcycles, Tools, metal detecting, and tinkering with things, I Ramble and talk with my hands a lot and I say the word 'uh' way to much. I try not to edit too much, therefore it is what it is. If you subscribe to my channel I will return the favor even if you don't have any videos posted.

In this video I unbox the $10 Harbor Freight No 33 bench plane and proceed to flatten the sole and sharpen the blade. The result is a plane that can take whisper thin shavings and would be useful in any shop.

I wanted to find out who makes the best steel? I put them through their paces, looking at their capabilities in joinery and anything woodworking related you might want to do with a nice set of chisels, short of opening a paint can. I sharpened all of the chisels to a 27-degree bevel to understand what they are like to live with and sharpen. I cut dovetails, m...
I bought this Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic Medium Barrel Air Hammer with chisel (item 69866) for a project, but then ended up not using it for that. But I decided to try it out anyway. I bought a set of chisels along with it. I am sure I will find something to destroy with it. You can never have too many tools.

BUILDING A BUG OUT BAG: Research and Development - URBAN TOOLS (Note: Special thanks to "mrmonkeyman50" for all of his input on this compartment. His ideas and dialog were extremely helpful in creating the baseline of the Tools compartment. Thanks!" This is part of my "Building a Bug Out Bag" video series that will document my process of redesigning my B.O.B. The bag will be divided into multiple "compartments", which will each have two related videos: an R&D (Research & Development) video and a finalized version video that shows what I eventually decided on for items in the particular compartment. This video is for my "URBAN TOOLS" compartment. I am currently in the early design process of this compartment. This Tools Compartment would be included in my Bug Out Bag and will be la...

Product page: http://www.harborfreight.com/90-amp-flux-wire-welder-68887-8494.html This flux welder is ideal for outdoor work since it doesn't use an external shielding gas - the flux built into the wire shields the weld. Set-up is easy for gasless flux-cored welding on thicker steel. 120 volt flux welder allows you to weld material from 18 gauge to 1/2" thick. Includes 2 lb. spool of flux-cored wire, spare contact tip, handheld face shield, chipping hammer with wire brush, multi-purpose wrench. Originally recorded April 17, 2014. This is a review of the Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic 3/8" Reversible Air Drill With Keyed Chuck And Key, Item # 94585. This basically does everything an electric drill can do, but seems to be able to do it faster. It's cheap enough to add to your air tool collection on the chance you'd need to drill through something. The trigger is more or less a "hair trigger"--that is, it's very touchy and basically acts either "on" or "off" with no in between. However, you can use the forward/reverse valve to control the airflow to the tool, which can slow it down. You will also need a quick-connect fitting for this drill if your compressor rig is so equipped. All in all another decent air tool to have around, and cheap enough it's worth it.
Review of the Harbor Freight (Central Forge) #4 Hand plane item#92553. This is a usable plane, once you do some work on it, and it's affordable at under US$15. I didn't mention the mini plane that comes with it because it's little more than a bent piece of sheet metal and a small iron (not an effective plane, IMHO). I have not been compensated for this review. I posted an update, including a blade replacement here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUQ8ArvMwXY
